"Sweetest Valentine"
Workshop
Workshop
Don't throw those holiday candy wrappers away!
Instead let's turn them into one of a kind Valentines that you can give to that special someone and your friends too.
Repurpose foil candy wrappers and have fun making “Sweet Valentines” while at the same time being kind to Mother Nature.
It may not seem like much but every little bit that gets saved from the landfill helps, right?

In this one day online Zoom workshop we’ll start with a couple of easy techniques to paint backgrounds on the small pieces of watercolor paper. Then cut out various sizes of heart shapes from the provided printable heart template. You’ll have all the shapes needed for class plus extras for later use. I’ll explain the best way to prepare the foil wrappers and demonstrate different ways you can use them to cover the heart shapes. After wrapping the shapes you'll use the provided printable template to punch holes for stitching. We'll embellish the Valentines with a few stitches and then use the same template as a guide for gluing all the pieces into place.
The two cards I'll be creating in the demonstration will have red, pink and purple foil wrappers. If you don’t have wrappers in the same colors, use whatever you can find and adjust your watercolor backgrounds to compliment those colors.
For the last part of class I've got a fun Valentine envelope project to show you that is made with just one piece of paper and we'll end with a "show and tell" of your Valentines and envelopes (no pressure - only if you want to share).

I don't usually need an excuse to buy candy kisses, but if I did,
this class would provide the reason. Kathy's class is easy to follow,
uses materials that many of us already have on hand, and is just plain fun.
So with that said, I'm off to the store to get more candy kisses!

What if you or the recipient of your card just isn't into the traditional Valentine pink and red?
Why not go bold and try something a little different – chartreuse & purple, blue & orange, or maybe turquoise & silver?

No previous experience with watercolors or embroidery is needed for this class,
just bring your candy wrappers and your curiosity to trying something new.
