a sketchbook to explore and have some collage playtime. All levels are welcome. |

A sketchbook practice can help develop your collage skills, ideas and style.
It's a place for your personal exploration where you can be brave - nothing needs to be precious.
You can try things out, make notes and see what happens, what works and what doesn't.
This is a live Zoom workshop. Can't attend each session live because the dates and/or time doesn't work for you? No worries, the classes are recorded and the link for the videos will be sent to all who are registered within 24 hours after the live class ends. We will meet for two hours on 4 consecutive Tuesdays. There will be demonstrations, but this is a hands-on workshop and you'll be creating collages in class each week. You'll practice and get comfortable with the 'speed collage' warm up exercise that will get you loosened up before each session. We'll start out by working in a minimal style and build from there as we explore different composition styles, techniques, color, pattern, textures and layers. I'll provide prompts that will help you in choosing papers and colors as well as additional prompts and ideas for collages you can work on between sessions to build on each weeks lesson. |

I'll be sharing ideas for making your own collage papers by painting and stamping with everyday objects on a variety of papers. There is a bonus video showing you my technique for creating textured tissue paper by painting it with acrylic washes that can be viewed after the first session. You'll be able to use some of these painted papers in class and you'll still have plenty left for your own future projects. I'll also share ideas for different ways you can store all these new papers you'll have.
