Join me for a live Zoom workshop that will meet for two, 2 1/2 hour sessions over two consecutive weeks.
You'll learn the basics of how to make eco-prints on paper while creating a journal from a pre-bound blank booklet.
I'll be making it super easy for you by mailing a supply kit (to US addresses only) that includes just about all the supplies you'll need.
If you are outside of the US and are interested in taking this workshop without the class kit please contact me for more information.
At the end of each class you will be sent a link to the Zoom recording. The recordings will be available to you on Vimeo for one year.

Day 1 - Eco-printing preparation
I'll explain the magical process of extracting the pigment from leaves and flowers that is used to make botanical prints and walk you through preparing the journal bundle and the journal cover bundle. You'll add extra papers (supplied in your class kit) to each of the bundles so you'll have additional eco-printed papers for another project of your choice.
You'll get step-by-step instructions for "boiling" the prepared bundles so you'll be all set to get "cooking" at your convenience once the first class is done and I'll go over the steps to get you prepared for the next weeks session.

Just wanted to tell you how extremely enjoyable and informative the class was yesterday!
I am really impressed with the meticulousness with which you prepared all the materials and your entire presentation.
I learned a lot, and I am thrilled with the results I’ve seen so far. You have really inspired me to try some new things.
You are a master teacher! Thank you.

Day 2 - Making the journal
I'll show you ways to repair any journal pages that may have ripped while being unbundled. See how these little "accidents" offer you a chance to get creative and make the journal uniquely yours. I’ll share ideas for decorative additions you can make to your journal pages such as weaving, stitching, adding pockets and windows.
You'll put the journal cover together, add a closure feature, stitch the cover flaps that will hold the journal in place and finish the cover edges with stitching. I'll share ideas for what you can do with your extra eco-printed papers, explain how to press and store your own leaves and flowers for future use, and take you on a short slide and video tour of my garden.

“Thank you Kathy! I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this class and appreciate all you have so generously shared with us.
I learned so much. I can’t wait to work with the beautiful papers I dyed and I’ve already begun collecting and drying
some leaves growing here around my house. I look forward to another class with you soon.”

My class materials package just arrived and I am amazed with your attention to detail and the delightful little bits
- like the neat folded envelopes for flower sprinkles and alum. And seeds from your garden!! And the dried flowers look wonderful.
I really can’t say enough good things about your class supply kit. I can’t wait to play in class this Sunday.
